Hamed Zubaid, a Kuwaiti architect, has been pursuing his love for design and architecture for more than thirty years. His unrivalled experience ranges from management of governmental projects to private sector construction and implementation of design-built solutions to real estate development. To this day, Hamed still sketches and designs the projects of HZMB, always fully involved in the process – from the concept design stage until the outcome.
A Kuwaiti Architect, Mona Al-Baghli, started working in the firm as a fresh graduate in 2007 and had since been developing her practical skills under the mentorship of Hamed. She played an important role in the firm before joining Hamed Zubaid as a partner in 2012. Her wide professional experience ranges from design to selecting materials to project supervision, from developing creative design solutions to making sure that the design concept sees the daylight without compromise.

The project is a refined fusion of classic architecture and modern recreation of classic design elements in modern-day Qatar. The approach to the project design transforms traditional compound into an oasis where buildings unfold in harmony with the landscape, creating a resort atmosphere.
According to the overall design concept, the units face the shared landscape, yet each has its private courtyard with a separate entrance. This solution allows the family members the freedom of privacy yet binds them all together. This way, the design masterplan tackles the intrinsic conflict of extended family housing compounds – public vs. private spaces.
